This illustrates how easy it is to create a suitable stylized map without any sophisticated graphics. If it becomes necessary during a game, additional areas can be added, by the umpire or the players. For example, if the Argentineans decided to attack the British naval based at Gibraltar, then an inset for Gibraltar would be added to the map.

For the various units you could just use cardboard counters or small wargaming models. The naval units were represented by 1/3000 warship models and the ground and air units by 1/300 scale models.

As an alternative you could use the game pieces from the "Axis and Allies" board game – it is often possible to pick up battered copies on eBay relatively cheaply and the playing pieces are really useful in a variety of situations.

Note: various handouts for the game can be downloaded from the History of Wargaming Project website at http://www.wargaming.co/professional/details/matrixgames.htm
